5 trades Sacramento Kings should make before the deadline
By Rory Ostrow
1. Acquire Markieff Morris
Morris has been dissatisfied with his situation in Phoenix for quite some time now, and the Suns are looking to trade the disgruntled forward. His stats this season aren’t particularly great, as he is averaging 10.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. However, his career averages are better, so this season isn’t really reflective of his actual talent.
A player’s attitude matters and it is no secret that Morris is not happy in Phoenix. In addition to his personal gripes with Phoenix, the Suns are a terrible team this year, which will make any player’s numbers decline. A change of scenery could be just what Morris needs to motivate him.
The Kings may be the perfect spot for him, as DeMarcus Cousins, once a fixture in the media for his attitude problems, seems to have matured and grown into an NBA professional. As a result, he is playing much better. Also, Rajon Rondo came from a similarly unhappy situation in Dallas last year and could help Morris adjust to a team he actually wants to play for. Team leaders Cousins and Rondo could give Morris guidance in the process of becoming a mature player, and really help him unlock his true potential.
