High Salary W

Alex Ovechkin-Washington Capitals ($8,600): Ovechkin didn’t show up on the scoresheet Saturday, but he has two goals in the last four games and nine points in his last 10 games. Ovechkin is a superstar and typically shines brightest on the biggest stage. An Eastern Conference battle at home in front of a crowd that is enjoying some hockey before the Super Bowl is surely enough to get Ovechkin amped up. It will cost you a lot of cap space, but Ovehckin is a great fantasy play each night, especially when taking on the worst team in the league at defending left wingers.

Jakub Voracek-Philadelphia Flyers ($6,400): Voracek had a five-game point streak snapped on Saturday, but he’s still playing great hockey with 15 points in his last 10 games. The Flyers have the unfortunate task today of going up against Washington, the best team in the league. However, if Philadelphia is going to have a chance today, Voracek is going to have to be at the top of his game. He’s the best chance of offense for the Flyers and could make for a good start today.

High Value W

Benoit Pouliot-Edmonton Oilers ($4,600): Pouliot notched his 12th goal of the year on Saturday and now has points in three straight games. With seven points in his last seven games and a decent matchup with the Islanders, Pouliot is worth looking at today. He’s playing on a very potent line and gets to skate with star rookie Connor McDavid. Pouliot is still available at a value price and can provide solid production.

Andre Burakovsky-Washington Capitals ($4,200): Burakovsky just doesn’t seem to be slowing down at all. He picked up another goal on Saturday and has been absolutely unconscious as of late. Saturday’s goal gave him a five-game goal streak and six goals over that stretch. He has 12 points in his last nine games and is the definition of a must-start in all fantasy formats. He has only earned less than four fantasy points twice in the last nine games and is finally putting it all together after being Washington’s first-round draft choice in 2013.

Phillip Di Giuseppe-Carolina Hurricanes ($2,900): It’s rare in daily fantasy hockey to find a player with a salary below $3,000 that’s actually worth using for a roster spot. However, Carolina’s Phillip Di Giuseppe falls into that category today. He scored his fourth goal of the season on Friday and now has nine points through 20 games. With an average of just below two fantasy points a game, he can’t be considered a reliable fantasy source. However, if you are going to try to stack a lineup with top players today, you’ll have to use guys like Di Giuseppe to save cap space.
