How was the first touchdown of Super Bowl 50 scored?

Early on in Super Bowl 50, the scoring between the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers was light. Denver drove down the field on the opening drive to score a field goal to make the score 3-0.

After a few scoreless drives, the Panthers took over with the ball deep in their zone. Quarterback Cam Newton dropped back for a pass but was sacked and stripped of the football by Von Miller. He did something that players in the 2015 NFL season rarely did, in forcing Newton into a critical error.

The Panthers would not be able to recover the ball, as Malik Jackson scooped up the football and scored the first touchdown of Super Bowl 50.

Take a look at how the played happened below.

The Panthers wouldn’t be able to capitalize on the ensuing drive either. Running back Mike Tolbert fumbled the ball but was able to recover it before the Broncos did. Newton was then sacked, but they received a lucky break after Denver cornerback Aqib Talib taunted and received a 15-yard penalty. This allowed a first down. The second chance was all for naught, as Carolina would later punt.

There’s plenty of time remaining in the game, but the normally fast-starting Panthers have come out flat while the Broncos are filing on all cylinders.
