Robert Nkemdiche. 19. player. 16.
Rex Ryan and Robert Nkemdiche… what could go wrong?

In all seriousness, Nkemdiche would probably be a top-five pick in the 2016 NFL Draft if not for his off-field concerns and, well, Ryan has never shied away from a player based solely on non-football issues. Buffalo is in need of an impact defensive lineman in a serious way, and while Nkemdiche isn’t the best pure fit in that he is more of a tandem DT/DE than a pure edge-rusher, the talent is undeniable at this point in the draft.

Buffalo could also go with an offensive lineman in this spot, but with Tunsil, Stanley, Conklin and Decker off the board in this scenario, the Bills would be forced to reach a bit to grab help at that position. If Rex Ryan and company actually did worry about Nkemdiche’s off-field profile, a player like Kevin Dodd or even Jarran Reed would make some sense, but neither would bring the pure upside that Nkemdiche presents.

The Bills are definitely in an interesting position as the NFL Draft approaches, but when you can get an elite talent with the 19th overall pick, you pull the trigger.

Especially if you are Rex Ryan.
. DL. Ole Miss
