Clemson. Mackensie Alexander. 25. player. 55.
At this point in the process, it would almost be a shock if the Steelers didn’t draft a cornerback with their first round pick. Pittsburgh was pretty bad in the secondary throughout the 2015 NFL season, and while the team does get 2015 second-rounder Senquez Golson back from injury, cornerback is still a need.

Mackensie Alexander could easily be a top 15 pick in this draft, and snatching him up with the 25th overall pick would be an incredible value. He is “only” 5-foot-10, but Alexander is already quite good in man-to-man coverage and his quickness should translate quite well to the NFL level.

It is fair to doubt Alexander’s height and ability to beat NFL receivers that stand at 6-foot-5, and if the Steelers chose to go in another direction (Kendall Fuller?) at the position, it wouldn’t be a surprise. However, multiple mocks indicate that Alexander is a coveted prospect given his speed and overall profile, and the Steelers really need the help. Pittsburgh is just a piece or two away from competing for the Super Bowl again, and with Golson and a first-round pick like Alexander, the Steelers could be quite dangerous on the back end of their defense.
.
