Jared Goff. 2. player. 53. <p>The Cleveland Browns don’t exactly have the best history when it comes to tabbing college players with the “quarterback of the future” label. In 2016, though, the organization seems poised to go back to the well for yet another attempt.</p> <p>Johnny Manziel, as of this post, is still employed by Cleveland, but that doesn’t mean the Browns aren’t poised to move on at the position. Goff isn’t quite at the level of the recent “can’t miss” players like Andrew Luck and Jameis Winston, but he is a highly talented player that the majority of experts project as the first quarterback off the board. As with many quarterbacks in the first round, Goff probably isn’t worth the number four overall pick when evaluating him against the rest of the available talent, but the quarterback tax is very real, and he won’t last long if the Browns elect to pass on the Cal star.</p> <p>It wouldn’t be a surprise to me if Cleveland’s new-look front office went with a local product in Ohio State standout Joey Bosa, but the Browns are in desperate need of a quarterback. If they don’t like Goff at this juncture, trading back to help plug other holes would be highly reasonable, but in the end, this pick makes the most sense.</p>. QB. California
