player. 87.
It is tough to pinpoint a glaring weakness of the Carolina Panthers right now, but if it exists, it probably comes in the form of an edge rusher for the future. Jared Allen is nearing retirement, and aside from Kony Ealy, there isn’t a lot of talent on the opposite side of Charles Johnson.

In this draft, pass-rushers (and defensive linemen in general) aren’t tough to find, and Dodd would be an incredible value here given where he is projected to fall (as early as the top 15) in some mock drafts. The 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive end finished second in the country (trailing only his teammate, Shaq Lawson) in tackles for loss with 23.5 this season, and he was generally disruptive throughout his final season at Clemson.

Dodd is probably better suited as a situational pass-rusher in the immediate, but he has the size to develop as a strong run defender and Carolina does have some depth to build around. The rich would absolutely be getting richer if Kevin Dodd fell all the way to the final pick in the first round, but the Panthers would gladly snatch him up if that is the scenario that plays out later in the spring.
. DE. Clemson. Kevin Dodd. 30
