16. 2013 Seattle Seahawks (SB XLVIII)

The Seattle Seahawks have had a handful of dubious playoff teams in their history that have had marginal playoff success. However, the 2013 Seahawks that went 13-3 in the regular season before going on to a Super Bowl victory don’t even remotely qualify in that negative light. Instead, that group under Pete Carroll and led by the Legion of Boom undoubtedly deserves to kick off the top-15 of these rankings.

There’s no question that the 2013 Seahawks’ success began resoundingly on the defensive side of the ball. They ranked first in the league in terms of points allowed on the season, conceding a meager 14.4 points per game—a mark wholly impressive considering the offensive-minded nature of the NFL in the modern era. Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch weren’t asleep on offense, though, as they did lead Seattle to having the No. 8-ranked offense in the league in the regular season as they accrued a 13-3 record.

The first two games of the postseason in the Divisional Round game and the NFC Championship game were both close affairs as they beat the Saints by only eight points and the 49ers by only six points. However, they asserted their full power in the Super Bowl against the Broncos as they put up a 43-8 beat-down of Peyton Manning and company to show just how great this Seahawks team actually was.
