Super Bowl 50: Stephen A. Smith tears into Aqib Talib
By Josh Hill
Aqib Talib committed a huge taunting penalty in Super Bowl 50, and Stephen A. Smith tore into him.
The Denver Broncos rather inexplicably jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the first handful of possessions of the game, but they weren’t completely perfect. After stopping the Panthers on a mid-quarter drive, Aqib Talib was flagged 15-yards for taunting. The penalty allowed the Panthers to keep their drive alive, even if it didn’t end in points for them.
Talib took his helmet off while arguing, even though he was on his own sideline and didn’t need to be on the field. Regardless, he was flagged for this and the Panthers continued to drive down the field. Even though it didn’t end in points, the Broncos defense was kept on the field for longer than they maybe would have liked.
After the penalty was assessed, Stephen A. Smith tore into Talib for allowing himself to lose his cool:
If there was a guy we’re not that surprised about losing his cool, it’s Talib. He’s had off-field issues it he past and let’s not forget that whole poking people in the eye period of his life we went through. Talib may not have screwed up in a way that allowed points on the board, but the Panthers getting a break thanks to him losing his cool can’t be allowed to happen.
