Report: Peyton Manning expected to retire, not return to Broncos no matter what
By Jack Crosby
Peyton Manning is expected to retire from the NFL, but either way he’s done with the Broncos.
When the dust started to settle Sunday night following Super Bowl 50 and the Denver Broncos win over the Carolina Panthers, there was just one thing on everyone’s mind: Was this the last time that Peyton Manning will ever step onto a football field? Manning was asked about this after the game, naturally, but he refused to give a response even though he had just won the second Super Bowl ring that has eluded him.
However, eventually we’re going to learn what his plans are for next season and beyond, and already the reports are starting to role in. This particular report says that the days of Peyton gracing the field are over.
According to Jason Cole of Bleacher Report, folks within the Broncos organization are telling him that Sunday night was indeed the last time that Manning will be quarterbacking an NFL team.
But, there might be a catch as well.
Being that it’s just buzz right now, there of course is the chance that Manning changes his mind and decides that he wants to play next season, even with his amazing win on Sunday. Now if this happens, though, it won’t be with the Broncos. No, as we have pretty much expected recently, Sunday night was more than likely the last game that he will play as the signal caller in Denver as the leader of the Broncos offense. Whether or not he ends up landing in Los Angeles –a highly rumored destination– or anywhere else all depends on whether or not he feels he has enough in the tank to return.
It’s not definitive at the moment, but from this report from Cole, it looks like Manning has played his last game.
