5. Rudy Gay to Miami

If there’s one decently big move the Sacramento Kings can make that doesn’t involve DeMarcus Cousins or Rajon Rondo, it’s moving Rudy Gay. Gay has been the subject of trade rumors for some time now and there’s plenty of contending teams that could be interested in acquiring him.

He’s tall, can guard longer players and he can score the ball. He has the ability to be dynamic at times and in the right situation, Gay could really take off and be the player that helps a team over the hump. That team could very well be the Miami Heat and it would help bring defense back to Sacramento.

Steve Kyler mentioned recently that the Heat have interest in acquiring Rudy Gay.

The Heat could use another long scorer like Gay and it could allow them to go with some lethal small ball sets on the court with Gay at the four and Bosh at the five if they wanted. The two teams match up well in terms of trade packages as well too.

The Heat could send back Luol Deng for Gay and maybe include former Kings guard Beno Udrih in the deal as well if the Kings insisted on him. If the Kings wanted a young asset with Deng instead of Udrih, they could maybe ask for Jarnell Stokes and see where that goes.

Both players would bring the defensive mindset that the Kings are looking to add and even more importantly, they are both expiring contracts and would give Sacramento plenty of flexibility in the off-season.
