High Value SF

Evan Turner-Boston Celtics (5,900): The Celtics are on the second night of back-to-back tonight against the Clippers, but I still like Evan Turner who is playing plenty of minutes coming off the bench for the C’s and producing in a variety of categories.  Last night in Milwaukee, he struggled with his shot (2-8) but played 30 minutes and finished with six boards, ten assists, and a block.  Turner seems to always be chipping in something and could get expanded playing time tonight with Jae Crowder nursing multiple injuries heading into the break.

Jeff Green-Memphis Grizzlies (5,600): Green continues to be one of the key pieces in the Memphis attack and with Marc Gasol out, the Memphis offense will need all the firepower it can get.  Green has at least 21 fantasy points in each of his last seven games and has posted over 35 in three of those contests.  Green continues to play huge minutes with over 34 minutes in three of his last four games.  He’ll  take on the Nets tonight who have struggled guarding opposing wings, so I like him to finish the first half with a big night in Brooklyn.

Stanley Johnson-Detroit Pistons (4,900): Johnson has started the last three games for the Pistons in place of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and has shown his upside while also struggling in his last game out. He had 22 points, nine boards, and five assists against the Knicks in his first start on Thursday totaling 44.3 fantasy points. He followed that with 30.5 fantasy points against the Pacers on Saturday.  Everyone was buying in and he was a DFS darling on Monday against Toronto, but Johnson stumbled and only managed 14.5 fantasy points on five points, five rebounds, and three assists. I’m still on board the Stan-the-Man  bandwagon for another game tonight, and I think he’ll log another heavy workload in the Pistons final game before the break.

Harrison Barnes-Golden State Warriors (4,400): Barnes has started to look more comfortable in the Golden State attack after a period of adjustment after his return from an ankle injury.  Barnes had 19 points last night against Houston and finished with 29.4 fantasy points. He has posted back-to-back games with 19 poitsnand had over 20 fantasy points in six of his last nine games and four of his last six.  He should find plenty of space to operate tonight against the Suns who allow the fourth-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing SF, and Barnes should play over 30 minutes for the sixth straight game before getting over a week off while some of his teammates head off to Toronto.

Wesley Johnson-Los Angeles Clippers (4,400): In the Clippers every-changing wing rotation, Johnson has been pretty productive lately with at least 20 fantasy points in each of his last four games.  He played 42 minutes while starting in place of a resting Paul Pierce on Monday and had a solid 25.8 fantasy points on seven points and nine rebounds.  He probably won’t get that much time tonight since Pierce is expected to play in his return to Boston, but Johnson is still getting enough playing time to be a gamble worth taking against the Celtics.

Mario Hezonja-Orlando Magic (3,700): Hezonja is an ultra-cheap option at SF tonight, and he has a ton of upside as he grown into the Orlando rotation. While his defensive deficiencies have kept “Super Mario” from advancing to the next level, Hezonja has played over 20 minutes in six of the Magic’s last seven games and has at least 15 fantasy points in three of his last four games.  He had one of his best overall games as a pro on Monday in Atlanta scoring 14 points to go with nine rebounds and three assists to total a very solid 26.3 fantasy points in his 32 minutes. He can score at the NBA level and as his defense comes along, he’ll get more playing time an Orlando rotation that needs as much offensive firepower as it can get.
