1) Becoming a Laker Legend

Past Los Angeles Lakers often receive more praise and accolades due to the organization’s long history, as well as the fact the team is located in a top media market. As noted, names like Jerry West, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson and Shaquille O’Neal go down as some of the greatest Lakers ever. Kobe Bryant will be in that group of past Lakers by the time this season concludes.

Kevin Durant signing with the Lakers would gear him up to become the next purple and gold great.

If he joins LA, there will be an enormous amount of pressure on KD to “save” the Lakers since they have been one of the NBA’s worst teams for a few years. They last won an NBA Championship in 2010, which probably seems like it happened ages ago. It may be due to Bryant’s injuries and the cycle of coaches that have been through this franchise since Phil Jackson retired.

However, if Durant can win even one title under the Lakers banner, he will make fans forget all those thoughts and be seen as that savior many wanted him to be. It will put him up among the team’s greatest players of all-time since all their title-caliber squads have featured legends.

If Durant wants to become a legend on one of the NBA’s most prestigious franchises, he will sign with the Lakers.
