After a dismal 67-95 season plagued with injuries, the Texas Rangers defied all odds and won the AL West in 2015 with a 88-74 record; they outlasted the Houston Astros after a hot September. Although they lost to the Blue Jays in the ALDS, the Jays showed spunk as they utilized their speed and power throughout the series. With manager Jeff Banister and the young GM Jon Daniels by their side, the Rangers youth movement continues to grow.

. The Rangers will now have a full season of Cole Hamels, who they traded with the Phillies last season for. Hamels was very effective in carrying the workload for the team. He might continue to do that with the return of Yu Darvish, coming back from Tommy John Surgery. If Darvish can come back as dominant as he was before the injury, then the Rangers would have a big advantage in the AL West.
Along for the ride is Comeback Player of the Year Prince Fielder. He is looking to stay healthy and continue to produce. Speaking of, Josh Hamilton is looking to improve after a lost season. He also joins Adrian Beltre, Elvis Andrus and a mix of new blood in Joey Gallo and Rougned Odor. Odor’s speed helped the Rangers in the playoffs, while Gallo’s power is definitely something to look forward to. After a revival of fortune, the Rangers are looking to show their success wasn’t a fluke.
