High Salary Defensemen

P.K. Subban – Montreal Canadiens ($6,300): Subban has been red-hot for the Canadiens as of late. He has six goals and 38 assists for 44 points in 57 games while averaging 3.5 fantasy hockey points per game. Over his last ten games, he has three goals and eight assists for 11 points with 14 hits, 23 shots on goal, and 13 blocked shots. P.K. has been remarkably consistent with his home and road splits with 22 points in 28 home games and 22 points in 29 away games.

Victor Hedman – Tampa Bay Lightning ($6,100): Hedman has looked like a Norris Trophy candidate as of late with two goals and seven assists for nine points with 23 shots on goal and 25 blocked shots over his last ten games while averaging 4.4 fantasy points per game. On the season, Victor has five goals and 27 assists for 32 points in 52 games.

Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins ($6,700): Letang has been extremely impressive this season when he has been healthy. Kris has 10 goals and 31 assists for 41 points with 139 shots on goal, 75 blocked shots, and 76 hits in 44 games. Over his last ten games, Letang has four goals and nine assists for 13 points with 13 hits and 14 blocked shots to go along with 37 shots on goal. The Penguins defenseman takes on the Hurricanes on the road tonight. He averages four fantasy hockey points on the road this season with 17 points in 22 road games.

High Value Defensemen

Erik Johnson – Colorado Avalanche ($5,500): Johnson is the healthy Grady Sizemore of hockey. He gets you fantasy points in virtually every way that he possibly can. Erik gets points, blocked shots, and hits at an impressive rate. He has seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 48 games this season while averaging 3.4 fantasy hockey points per game. Johnson also has 88 hits and 121 blocked shots. Over his last ten games, the Avalanche defenseman has four points, 20 hits, and 30 blocked shots. He goes against the Red Wings tonight.

T.J. Brodie – Calgary Flames ($4,600): Brodie has been quite productive this season for the Flames with four goals and 26 assists for 30 points in 44 games with 52 shots on goal and 65 blocked shots. Over his last ten games, Brodie has eight assists and a plus-minus rating of +7. He averages 2.8 fantasy hockey points per game.
