High Salary Centers

Connor McDavid – Edmonton Oilers ($6,900): McDavid is proving that he was worth the hype thus far in his career. In his first six games back from injury, the first overall pick of the 2015 NHL Draft has 12 points (four goals and eight assists). Over his last ten games McDavid has four goals and 11 assists for 15 points with 62 face-off wins. He goes tonight against the Jets who rank 30th in the NHL against centers. McDavid averages 4.2 fantasy hockey points per game.

John Tavares – New York Islanders ($7,900): Tavares has five goals and seven assists for 12 points over his last ten games to go along with 38 shots on goal and 107 face-off wins while averaging 5.1 fantasy hockey points per game during that span. John Tavares now has 20 goals and 23 assists in 51 games this season. The Islanders center currently has a four game point streak during which he has two multi-point outings.

Claude Giroux – Philadelphia Flyers ($6,900): Giroux has been doing quite well recently for the Broad Street Bullies. He has three goals and seven assists for 10 points with 28 shots on goal and 132 face-off wins over his last ten games while averaging 4.1 fantasy points per game. Over the season, Giroux has 16 goals and 29 assists for 45 points. The Flyers center averages 3.6 fantasy hockey points per game.

High Value Centers

Bo Horvat – Vancouver Canucks ($4,000): Horvat has 10 goals and 15 assists for 25 points this season. He’s been doing much better recently for the Canucks. Bo has four goals and four assists for eight points with 96 face-off wins over his last ten games while averaging 3.4 fantasy points per game. He’s a risky start for sure, but he could pay off against an injury depleted Maple Leafs team that struggles against centers.

Marcus Johansson – Washington Capitals ($4,400): Most players get hurt when they get demoted from a forward line. Johansson is an exception. He has been phenomenal as the Caps third line center and has turned Washington’s checking line into a legitimate scoring line. MoJo has five goals and four assists for nine points with 37 face-off wins over his last ten games. The Capitals center goes against the Stars on the road where he has 18 points in 24 games. He averages 2.7 fantasy hockey points per game.

Rickard Rakell – Anaheim Ducks ($4,600): Rakell has 28 points (13 goals and 15 assists) with 124 shots on goal in 50 games this season for the Ducks. Over his last ten games, Rakell has been a beast with five goals and four assists for nine points to go along with 30 shots on goal and 31 face-off wins. He has averaged four fantasy hockey points over that span. Rakell could be primed for a big night if the Blackhawks look like they did against the Stars.
