4. Houston Rockets

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Houston Rockets are both expected to make moves at the deadline. The Cavaliers are trying to strengthen their rotation, while the Rockets are looking to bring in pieces that can mesh and help turn the team around.

If there was ever a time for the two sides to swap defensive-minded wings that could use a change of scenery, the time is now. Both Iman Shumpert and Trevor Ariza are on comparable deals and both might thrive even more if they changed situations.

Shumpert could jump right into the Rockets’ rotation right away, while Ariza could be a great defensive addition with three-point shooting ability for the Cavaliers, which will certainly be needed come playoff time. With Shumpert, the Rockets are getting a younger option and it will help them continue to overturn the roster around James Harden.

This deal could potentially swing into a bigger deal if the two sides were inclined, but if they wanted to keep it basic on both sides, this is a deal that makes a lot of sense. Shumpert goes somewhere where he can potentially get more minutes and Ariza joins on with a contending team.

One team is trending up and the other is trending down at the moment. That’s usually a recipe for a trade between two teams.
