If the Cleveland Cavaliers want to buy low on a player that could pay off big dividends at the trade deadline, then perhaps Markieff Morris could be the guy they target. Wherever Morris ends up, he’s going to play his hardest and try to show what type of player that he could be in this league.

Since the trade value for Morris is all but nothing right now, the Cavaliers could offer Shumpert in a swap for Morris, since they’re on comparable contracts.

The two teams could try to make a bigger deal out of it, if the Cavaliers wanted any other pieces for the roster’s stretch run as well.

The Suns have long had interest in Shumpert as a player, going all the way back to the 2011 draft. While they would have a bevy of guards on the roster, it won’t be surprising to see the Suns move anyone not named Devin Booker soon. General manager Ryan McDonough hasn’t been afraid to acknowledge the mistakes with the roster and it could start with cleaning up the back court mess he put together in the first place.

The Suns could get a rotational guard that can play a semblance of defense. With the incoming salary cap spike, Shumpert’s contract wont look bad at all. It’s not exactly the most exciting name in a return deal for Morris, but with his value the way that it is, these are the types of deals they’ll have to expect.
