Running back Lamar Miller

As we looked at earlier, the Houston Texans could be without Arian Foster in the upcoming season. If they do decide to let him go, the draft is probably the preferred place to find a young replacement.

Unless of course, a perfect fit happened to hit free agency. Running back Lamar Miller played four seasons for the Miami Dolphins and had a career average of 4.6 yards per carry.

Despite his effectiveness, the running back was seldom used and had only one season in which he topped the 1,000 yard mark, in 2014.

Miami may not have used him as such, but Miller is an every down back that can be just as effective catching the ball out of the backfield as he is running it.

With 2,930 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground and 887 yards through the air (117 receptions) Miller has shown he can get it done.

What makes him even more interesting is he will be just 25-years old when the 2016 season starts. With his youth and minimal wear and tear for an NFL back, Miller has plenty of tread left on the tires while also offering the services of an experienced starter.

CHARLOTTE, NC – JANUARY 17: Jermaine Kearse

Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse

Nearly a Super Bowl hero after making one of the best catches of all time for the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX, receiver Jermaine Kearse is set to hit the open market.

The 26-year old is coming off his best year as a pro in which he recorded 685 yards off 49 catches and added five touchdowns. Those numbers could look immensely better should he wind up in Houston as Seattle is a team that likes to run as a first, second and sometimes third option on offense.

When the ‘Hawks did call Kearse’s number, he delivered for them. A constant threat to score from anywhere on the field, the undrafted kid from Washington could draw some serious consideration in free agency and the Texans would be wise to kick the tires on him.

Pairing him with stud wide out DeAndre Hopkins could provide a potent combination for a team that likes to throw as often as Kearse’s old team likes to run. It could be a great pairing for both the team and the player.

Another position of need that the team could address on offense would be tight end, and James Hanna of the Dallas Cowboys could be a steal there. A sixth-round pick out of Oklahoma, the 6-foot-four and 250 pounder has been a starter for most of his time in Dallas due to his blocking ability.

In Houston he could continue to fill that role, but thanks to his soft hands and surprising speed, he could be an option in the passing game for a team that can use any help at all at this position.
