Draft Targets

The Chargers are looking at the 2016 NFL Draft sitting in a great position to really help their team moving forward. Not only do they have the No. 3-overall pick in the draft, but they also have at least one pick in every round and have two in Round 6 to give them eight selections overall. That’s more than enough room to address some major needs, which should start with the defensive line.

At the No. 3 pick, it seems likely that Joey Bosa from the Ohio State Buckeyes should fall into their laps and they would be out of their minds not to leap at the opportunity to take him if he’s there as he addresses one of their biggest needs as a player who could make an immediate impact as he enters the NFL. That being said, DeForest Buckner wouldn’t be a bad pick at No. 3 either if Bosa goes off the board or the Chargers simply like him better.

With their second pick, you’d have to imagine that San Diego would ultimately look to again address needs by looking at their defensive front or on the offensive line. Either way, there will be quality prospects at each position when they make their second selection.

Beyond that and looking to probably add someone to the secondary in Round 3, the Chargers should really just be looking to add depth in their areas of need and places on the roster that are concerning. Given how mightily the injury bug bit them last season, you can never be too safe or too prepared.
