High Salary PG

John Wall-Washington Wizards (9,600): Wall and the Wizards were involved in the last meaningful game in the NBA last Thursday night when they lost to the Bucks.  Wall had a double-double for his fifth straight game in that contest but only had 15 points and 42.5 fantasy points. He had posted at least 50 fantasy points in six of his previous seven games, and he’ll look to return to that level against the Jazz tonight.  Utah is thin at the PG position and there have been rumblings about trying to bring in Ty Lawson, but that just makes Wall a more attractive option against Utah at home tonight. The only reason I hesitate with Wall is that he is extremely pricey and will need a huge game to return close to his full value (which I usually define as five fantasy points per 1,000 of salary).∗∗

Chris Paul-Los Angeles Clippers (9,000): CP3 is the Clippers offense right now with Blake still sidelined.  In LA’s last game before the break, Paul played 48 minutes against Boston and finished with 35 points, 13 assists, three steals, five rebounds, and an impressive 70.75 fantasy points. He has only reached 45 fantasy points twice in his last nine games, but he’ll need to bring his A-game tonight against the Spurs, so I expect a big game from him although his price is a little high in my opinion.

Kyrie Irving-Cleveland Cavaliers (8,000): Kyrie rolled into the All Star break with all kinds of momentum posting 58.75 fantasy points against the Kings and 54.25 fantasy points against the Lakers in his last two contests.  He has at least 34 fantasy points in seven of his last eight games, and he definitely appears to be returning to form and fitting gin well in Tyronn Lue’s new system in Cleveland.  Tonight, Irving is in a good matchup against D-Rose and the Bulls who have allowed the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing PG so far this season.

Derrick Rose-Chicago Bulls (7,300): On the other side of the Eastern Conference showdown, Rose will have to continue to pick up some of the slack for the Bulls while Jimmy Butler is out.  Rose had three straight games of 41+ fantasy points after Butler went down before missing a game of his own the Monday before the All Star break with “general soreness” and struggling a bit (26.75 fantasy points) against Atlanta the last game before the break.  He should have enjoyed the extra rest over the break, and I expect him to return to his place as the focal point of the Bulls Butler-less attack.
