DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy hockey lineup February 20
High Salary Defensemen
Shayne Gostisbehere – Philadelphia Flyers ($5,900): Gostisbehere is sadly no longer dirt cheap. He’s still a viable fantasy option on any given day. Shayne Gostisbehere is currently in the midst of a 14 game point streak. The rookie blue liner has an eye-popping 33 points (11 goals and 22 assists) in 39 games this season. Over his last 10 games, the Ghost Bear has three goals and eight goals for 11 points with 26 shots on goal. The Flyers defenseman averages 3.5 fantasy hockey points per game.
Erik Johnson – Colorado Avalanche ($5,700): Johnson represents why DraftKings is awesome. FanDuel doesn’t count stats like hits and blocked shots. DraftKings does and that allows guys who can do it all like Johnson to shine. Erik Johnson has 22 points (nine goals and 13 assists), 94 hits, 128 blocked shots, and 121 shots on goal in 51 games this season. Over his last 10 games, Johnson has six points (two goals and four assists), 24 hits, 28 blocked shots, and 21 shots on goal. He plays a ton of minutes too, averaging in excess of 23 minutes of ice time per game. Johnson averages 3.5 fantasy hockey points per game.
Victor Hedman – Tampa Bay Lightning ($6,200): Hedman is a nice value considering the production that he gives you. He has 36 points (six goals and 30 assists), 97 blocked shots, and 131 shots on goal in 56 games. Over his last 10 games, Hedman has nine points (three goals and six assists), nine hits, 16 blocked shots, and 21 shots on goal. He averages 3.4 fantasy hockey points per game.
High Value Defensemen
Michael Stone – Arizona Coyotes ($4,400): Stone doesn’t get much love because his teammate Oliver Ekman-Larsson tends to get a lot of it (for good reason too). However, the 25 year old defenseman is having a very nice season with 24 points (four goals and 20 assists), 101 hits, 100 blocked shots, and 118 shots on goal in 57 games. Over his last 10 games, he has five points (a goal and four assists), 22 hits, 21 blocked shots, and 18 shots on goal. The Coyotes defenseman averages 2.8 fantasy hockey points per game.
Mattias Ekholm – Nashville Predators ($4,000): Ekholm has 27 points (six goals and 21 assists) with 75 shots on goal in 58 games this season. Over his last ten games, Ekholm has seven assists, 11 blocked shots, and 13 shots on goal. He could be a nice value tonight going against the Kings. The Predators defenseman averages 2.3 fantasy points per game.
Brian Campbell – Florida Panthers ($3,800): Campbell has 24 points (five goals and 19 assists) in 58 games this season for the Panthers. The 36 year old defenseman has been playing well over his last 10 games with seven points (a goal and six assists), 10 blocked shots, and 11 shots on goal. Look for him to continue his hot streak tonight against the Jets. He averages two fantasy hockey points per game.
