Los Angeles Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers apparently had their hand in a number of different trade discussions leading up to Thursday’s deadline, including being involved in days-long talks about potentially acquiring Channing Frye from the Orlando Magic. However, as the deadline grew closer, it looked like they weren’t going to do anything at all—but then they did and everything went crazy for the Clippers.

Everyone knew that the Lance Stephenson experiment wasn’t working out, which really isn’t all that surprising. Either things were worse than anyone knew or the Clippers just have the worst front office in the history of mankind, because they pulled off a trade at the buzzer swapping Stephenson for Jeff Green. The absurd part, though, is that they gave Memphis a protected first-rounder to get that deal done.

Even if Green is less of an enigma than Stephenson, is it really worth giving up a first-round draft pick to get rid of him and make that swap? That just seems so shortsighted and, quite frankly, stupid. You can’t completely say the deadline was a failure for the Clippers because they didn’t go full moron and trade Blake Griffin, but damned if that Stephenson trade wasn’t horrible for them.
