Charlotte Hornets

The Charlotte Hornets were in like a lamb, out like a lion in regards to their activity at the NBA Trade Deadline. Though they made some headlines in regards to rumors as they were connected to a potential Dwight Howard trade, they only ended up making one trade and one that was ultimately highly favorable to the Hornets as they try to stay on course for the postseason out of the Eastern Conference.

The Hornets got the top prize in a three-team trade with the Memphis Grizzlies and the Miami Heat landed veteran shooting guard Courtney Lee. Leaving Charlotte was Brian Roberts to the Heat, and P.J. Hairston with a couple of second-round picks attached going to Memphis. The Grizzlies also wound up with Chris Andersen and two more second-rounders coming from Miami.

Lee is a fantastic addition to the Hornets, especially given how little they gave up in terms of assets to get him. The veteran can come in and assumedly contribute immediately for a Hornets team shallow on the wings given the Michael Kidd-Gilchrist injury. He’s a three-and-D guy that should very well put the Hornets in a better position to compete for a playoff spot over the final third of the year.

Also, they thankfully avoided Dwight Howard.
