2016 NFL offseason: Minnesota Vikings needs
By Randy Gurzi
Nick Perry, Outside Linebacker
The Vikings may need a replacement to Chad Greenway should they decide to move on. One player they could target to replace him could be another former first round pick in Nick Perry of the Green Bay Packers.
Taken 28th overall out of USC in 2012, Perry has yet to live up to his status as a first rounder. He hasn’t been the explosive pass rusher Green Bay hoped for, but with 99 tackles, 12.5 sacks and four pass deflections he has at least showed some promise. At 6-foot-3 and 265 pounds, Perry could be considered for defensive line help in addition to linebacking duties. The Vikings though have done well with using players with Perry’s size and skill set in their outside linebacker roles.
Anthony Barr was selected out of UCLA and while mane expected him to be a defensive end, Minnesota has used Barr as a linebacker and could find similar success with Perry playing opposite him.
