2016 NFL offseason: Minnesota Vikings needs
By Randy Gurzi
Draft Summary
One position which was ignored with the free-agent targets was wide receiver. The reason for that is simple; free-agent receivers haven’t been the most productive for the Vikings.
Greg Jennings and Mike Wallace have both been high-priced mistakes, but the issue goes even further back to players like Bernard Berrian. Minnesota should address the position in the draft and they have several draft picks to work with as well to help them re-tool heading into the 2016 season. The picks they own are as follows;
Round 1 – Pick 23
Round 2 – Pick 23
Round 3 – Pick 23
Round 4 – Pick 23
Round 5 – Pick 21
Round 6 – Pick 5
Round 7 – Pick 19
Round 7 – Pick 23
Outside of wide receiver, the Vikings could look to add depth at corner and possibly find a starting strong safety to play opposite Smith. Overall, the team is in pretty good shape and can afford to draft using the best player available strategy, rather than reaching too far for need.
