No.’s 16 – 13

No. 16 – Michael McDowell

Before the race began, Michael McDowell wasn’t expected by may to do much. However, McDowell and his team put in a good effort and finished No. 15 on the day.

No. 15 – Jimmie Johnson

Jimmie Johnson was seen as one of the big favorites heading into the Daytona 500. It looked like early on that Johnson would be in contention for the win. After the Toyotas worked their way to the front and began to dominate on the track, Johnson worked his way up and battled with them.

That battle didn’t last long and Johnson was sucked back into the pack. His finish wasn’t memorable at No. 16 and it’s a day that he would probably like to forget going forward. The good news is that Jimmie Johnson owns Atlanta and he will be looking to win another race there next week.

No. 14 – Kasey Kahne

Like his Hendrick Motorsports teammate Johnson, Kasey Kahne didn’t have a memorable day on the track at the Daytona 500. It was nothing special and he finished on the day in 13th.

No. 13 – Aric Almirola

He finished 12th and kept himself in good position for the points standings going forward. They would have liked to have done better, but it’s a good start for Almirola and his team.
