Draft Plan

The San Francisco 49eers will have eight draft picks in the 2016 NFL Draft and will likely receive a ton more in compensatory picks after all the players that they lost last offseason. The 49ers have the No. 7 pick in the draft and if quarterback Jared Goff is available, they need to rush to the podium.

The 49ers are unsure if they have an answer at quarterback and it might be better to move on from Colin Kaepernick if they can get Goff. The last time the 49ers passed on a quarterback from Cal, it came to bite them and they certainly won’t make that mistake twice.

The good thing is that with all the picks they are likely to have, they can take Goff and add plenty of pieces around him. They can also work on adding depth to the defense and keep this rebuild going forward.

It’s going to take a while for the 49ers to bounce back, but if they have a successful draft and perhaps land a quarterback of the future, they can get back to being successful a lot quicker than they expect it to. A lot of it depends on if Chip Kelly’s system can work in the NFL as well.

This is a big draft for the 49ers, as it is the first under Kelly.
