Florida State. Jalen Ramsey. 3. player. 13.
The seemingly inevitable separation between the Chargers and Eric Weddle would pave the way for this particular selection. The jury is out on whether Ramsey is a big cornerback or a true free safety for the balance of his NFL career, but there is no question that he possesses the athletic traits (at 6-foot-1 and more than 200 pounds) to excel as an NFL safety from the first time he steps on the field as a professional.

San Diego could easily go the “best available player” route with a pick of Ohio State’s Joey Bosa, but from a need perspective, an addition to their secondary makes more sense if we assume that Weddle will no longer be on the roster. To be clear, the Chargers should probably fall in a similar class to both the Titans and Browns in that this is a roster that could seriously use an infusion of talent that would come from trading down and acquiring multiple picks. However, Ramsey is the rare defensive back that profiles as a legitimate top-five selection.

If, for some reason, Laremy Tunsil fell to number three, the Chargers would walk (read: run) to the podium to snatch up a no-doubt left tackle of the future. Beyond that, though, anything seems possible and Ramsey is a nice fit.
. DB
