DeForest Buckner. 5. player. 52.
Virtually every NFL mock draft currently available projects the Jaguars to end up with either Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa but, well, neither athlete is available in this particular version. With that on the table, the Jags would be wise to snatch DeForest Buckner as a building block for the future.

Jacksonville, as most bad teams do, needs a variety of things, but it would be difficult to make a “needs” list for the Jaguars that did not feature a pass-rusher at or near the top. Buckner contributed 17 tackles for loss and 10.5 sacks during his final season with the Ducks, and that production came against a steady diet of double and triple teams.

At 6-foot-7 and 290 pounds, Buckner isn’t the “purest” of pass-rushers, but he is certainly able to terrorize the opposition off the edge, with the size and bulk to stand up against the run for a long time as a defensive end. Jacksonville should certainly take the “best player available” mindset given that the team is not close to competing as currently constructed, but Buckner fits that bill while also filling a glaring need on the roster.

To make things even more interesting, DeForest Buckner and 2015 first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. would form a pretty terrifying combination for years to come.
. DE. Oregon
