California. Jared Goff. 7. player. 42.
There are a lot of reasons to think that San Francisco would be interested in Jared Goff if he remains available when they are on the clock.

First, Goff is considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL Draft, to the point where many pundits believe he will be long gone at this point. Second, the former Cal star is a native of the area, which would certainly excite a fan base that hasn’t had a lot to cheer about over the last few months. Lastly, Chip Kelly needs a quarterback to build his offense around for the foreseeable future and all indications are that Colin Kaepernick probably isn’t that player.

Of course, the 49ers have many needs at this stage, and it would make sense for the team to invest in pass-rush or linebacking help at this point in the first round. However, there seems to be a lot of smoke in the air with regard to Goff and San Francisco, and if Kelly falls in love with a quarterback that he can get his hands on without trading up, it seems like the most logical fit to begin the new era with the storied franchise.
.
