High Salary Defensemen

Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins ($6,900): Letang was on a huge hot streak before being held pointless for three straight games. He’s back on track in the midst of a three game point streak during which he has five points. Kris Letang has 46 points (10 goals and 36 assists) with 92 hits and 153 shots on goal in 49 games for the Penguins. He goes tonight against the Bruins averaging 4.4 fantasy hockey points per game.

Erik Johnson – Colorado Avalanche ($5,600): Johnson can rack up fantasy points in a variety of ways. He gets you points, hits, blocked shots, and even some shots on goal. Over his last 10 games, Johnson has five points, 24 hits, 27 blocked shots, and 24 shots on goal. He has 22 points, 98 hits, 129 blocked shots, and 126 shots on goal this season in 53 games. The Avalanche defenseman goes against the Sharks tonight averaging 3.4 fantasy hockey points per game.

Marc-Edouard Vlasic – San Jose Sharks ($5,100): His teammate Brent Burns might be more productive, but Burns is too expensive with a $8,200 salary. Vlasic is cheaper and is a much better value. Over his last 10 games, Lindholm has six points, nine hits, 12 blocked shots, and 23 shots on goal. He goes tonight against the Sabres averaging 2.5 fantasy hockey points per game.

He has seven points, eight hits, 18 blocked shots, and 18 shots on goal over his last 10 games. The Canadiens blue liner goes tonight against the Capitals averaging 2.7 fantasy points per game.
