High Value SF

Luol Deng-Miami Heat (5,800): Deng’s price is on the rise after a sizzling start to the second half.  Deng has logged three double-doubles in his three games since the All Star break helping to pick up some of the slack for the injured Chris Bosh.  Deng has 50.2, 47, and 32.7 fantasy points in his last three games and had an impressive 16 boards against the Pacers on Monday. I’m still not sure I totally buy in to Deng as this level of producer for the rest of the season, but he is definitely worth a look against the Warriors in what should be a high-scoring small-ball fest tonight in South Beach. ∗∗

Tobias Harris-Detroit Pistons (5,700): Harris has quickly acclimated to his new team in Detroit and is lined up for a ton of minutes going forward with Anthony Tolliver and Stanley Johnson both sidelined for a couple of weeks.  Marcus Morris and Harris will bet all the minutes they can handle at the forward spots, and I like Harris to have a big game tonight against the Sixers who allow the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing SF and the third-most fantasy points to opposing PF. Harris has posted 23.8, 30, and 29.5 fantasy points in his three games with Detroit, and he should be able to surpass those numbers given tonight’s favorable matchup.

Matt Barnes-Memphis Grizzlies (4,700): Since the Grizz traded away Jeff Green and Courtney Lee and lost Marc Gasol to injury, there are plenty of minutes left for Matt Barnes to pick up as Memphis welcomes the Kobe farewell tour tonight.  Barnes played 31 minutes on Sunday against the Raptors but struggled to just 13.4 fantasy points while scoring a single point to go with seven rebounds, two assists, and a block.  He has the upside to produce much more if he gets his shot going tonight against his former team. The Lakers defense has been a mess lately, so given Barnes opportunity, he should be able to produce tonight.

Harrison Barnes-Golden State Warriors (4,500): Another Barnes getting plenty of playing time and producing at times is Harrison Barnes of the Warriors who has at least 12 points in five of his last seven outings and has totaled over 21 fantasy points in four of his last six.  He is good for around 30 minutes a night, but his production depends on game flow and how much he is needed don the offensive end.  He should see his usual playing time tonight against Deng and the Heat, and he’s low-risk as a result although his ceiling isn’t all that high in his current role in the Warriors offense.

Shabazz Muhammad-Minnesota Timberwolves (3,900): Muhammad’s fantasy value as a cheap play has been all over the map this season going through several cycles of good value while also disappearing for several stretches of the season.  Lately, coach Sam Mitchell has been getting him back in the mix with at least 12 points in four of his last five games and over 17 fantasy points in five of his last seven. Muhammad’s uncertain playing time makes him a gamble, but he has delivered solid scoring when given the opportunity lately.
