2. New York Jets

When reports first surfaced of Colin Kaepernick wanting out of San Francisco, it was reported that his preferred team was the New York Jets. Reports then surfaced that the Jets were not interested in Kaepernick, more or less souring on that potential relationship.

Still, where there’s smoke there’s fire and the Jets do have some questions at the quarterback position. Ryan Fitzpatrick put together a fine season in 2015, but he is what he is. He’s a quarterback that’s a great stop-gap option, but he’s not going to put the team on his back.

Kaepernick has shown an ability to do that in flashes in the past. While the thought of him being the quarterback he once was seems a little far-fetched at this point, he’s going to be working his hardest wherever he ends up next if San Francisco makes him available.

The Jets had a great season this past year, which saw them just miss the playoffs in the final week of the season. With a great defense and a couple of great wide receivers, the Jets could do some serious damage if they could ever find that permanent quarterback.

While Fitzpatrick might be their top option for now, they shouldn’t rule out other options just to keep Fitzpatrick either.
