High Value PG

Tony Parker-San Antonio Spurs (5,300): First of all, make sure to send out the “Pop” alert on all the Spurs since San Antonio is playing the second night in a row which could mean coach Greg Popovich rests his stars entirely or tries to limit their minutes.  However, Parker played both halved of the team’s back-to-back last week and has played at least 28 minutes in the last five games he has been active (missing one with an ankle injury before the break).  Parker played well last night finishing with 23 points and six assists against the Kings to total 31.6 fantasy points which gives him three straight with over 30 fantasy points. The Jazz are still in flux at the PG spot which could allow Parker to attack them tonight and put together another nice game.  The one thing that does need to be pointed out, though, is that Parker’s good games have come against the Kings, Suns, and Lakers who all struggle to defend opposing PG while the Jazz typically are pretty good against opposing fantasy PG.

Brandon Jennings-Orlando Magic (3,800): Aside from Parker and Holiday, the PG position is extremely polarized with high-cost stars and ultra cheap values at both ends without much in between.  Jennings only ended up playing 11 minutes against the 76ers on Tuesday after being benched for a foul that coach Scott Skiles objected to. Jennings had been playing almost as much as starter Elfrid Payton before falling out of favor, and had posted back-to-back games of at least 25 fantasy points.  Going forward, I think Jennings is Orlando’s best bench option for scoring from their backup PG, so he’ll probably get most of the run.  As long as he does, he’ll be a great bargain play against the Warriors who have been giving up plenty of points lately especially to opposing guards.

Shelvin Mack-Utah Jazz (3,700): Mack started in just his second game for the Jazz and finished with 17 points in 32 minutes.  His fantasy production was down due to an ugly six turnovers, but he still looked to be adjusting to the team and settling into his new role pretty well. Alec Burks could take some of his time later this season, but for now it looks like Mack will get tons of run with a Jazz team that’s making a strong playoff push. ∗∗

Ronnie Price-Phoenix Suns (3,700): You didn’t think I would leave out my man Ronnie Price did you? Yes, Price plays for the Suns who are horrible, but Brandon Knight is still out and coach Earl Watson wants a true PG option which is why Price has replaced Archie Goodwin in the starting lineup the last two games.  In those two games, Price has 17.7 and 26.5 fantasy points. He played 27 minutes against the Clippers and finished with 12 points, five boards, three assists, and two steals.  Tonight against Brooklyn, he’s a great cheap play and a good way to save up for stars at other spots since he’s going to get the playing time and the opportunity in what is a rare winnable game for the Suns. ∗∗
