DraftKings daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup-February 29
High Value SG
Will Barton-Denver Nuggets (5,600): Barton and the Nuggets will have to play the next few weeks without Danilo Gallinari who had been mostly healthy this year until an ankle injury on Friday. In that game, Barton picked up some of the offensive slack finishing with 22 points and nine rebounds in his 43 minutes (due to overtime). Barton was brilliant in December when Gallinari missed a few games, and whether he starts or comes off the bench he will be the top option in the Nuggets offense for long stretches of the next several games. Tonight his matchup against Memphis isn’t ideal, but he should be on the floor enough and get enough usage to still be a good play in his increased role. ∗∗∗∗
Evan Turner-Boston Celtics (5,300): Turner had 37 fantasy points Saturday against the Heat on 14 points, nine assists, and six rebounds as he continues to play a key role for the Celtics coming off the bench. His numbers drop in some games due to his role, but he has at least 26 fantasy points in eight of his last ten games which shows he isn’t high-risk for a total dud despite his status as a non-starter. Coach Brad Stevens has found ways to keep him and Marcus Smart involved like starters even though they’re coming off the bench, so look for Turner to have another good line against Utah although the matchup isn’t a great one for wings. ∗∗∗
J.J. Redick-Los Angeles Clippers (5,300): Redick has been very productive this month with at least 16 points in eight of his last nine games and over 23 fantasy points in each of his last three games and six of those nine. He should be in a great matchup to produce tonight since the Nets allow the third-most fantasy points in the NBA to opposing SG. There’s definitely the possibility of a Clippers blowout, but Redick should get his shots dropping often enough early in this one to be worth his 5K price. ∗∗∗∗∗
Gary Harris-Denver Nuggets (4,800): While he doesn’t have the upside of his teammate Will Barton, Harris will likely get more shots while Danilo Gallinari is out as well. He played a massive 46 minutes on Friday against Dallas in the Nuggets OT loss and scored 17 points to get him to 27 fantasy points. He has at least 21 fantasy points in six of his last seven games, and he should keep getting plenty of playing time as the Nuggets rely on Harris and fellow-rookie Emmanuel Mudiay as their starting back court. ∗∗∗
Bojan Bogdanovic-Brooklyn Nets (4,100): Bogdanovic has stepped back into the Nets lineup for two games since Joe Johnson left. In his first game, his shot was dropping and he finished with 24 points against the Suns while adding little else and totaling 26 fantasy points. He followed that up with a rough game in Utah where the Jazz typically shut down opposing wings, and Bogdan only managed 11.75 fantasy points. He will likely get another start tonight against the Clippers which makes him at least worth a look although his lack of non-scoring stats does make him high-risk even when he does pile up minutes. ∗
Vince Carter-Memphis Grizzlies (3,900): Carter has found a role on the new-look Grizzlies and has played over 20 points in each of his last six games. In those six games, he has three games with at least 25 fantasy points and has produced at least 17 fantasy points in five of those games. Tonight against the Nuggets, Carter is a solid sleeper play, and I think Saturday’s down performances (14 fantasy points) can be attributed to playing back-to-back games. Carter is nowhere near the same players as in his prime, but if he gets minutes he can still be a good value play tonight against Denver.∗∗∗
