Sacramento Kings point guard Rajon Rondo picked up two delay of game penalties at the same time while trying to inbound a ball.

Trying to inbound a basketball can be tough sometimes for players. Usually a defender is in their way and players are locked down. However, Rajon Rondo had trouble on an inbound attempt and picked up a couple of delay of game penalties for his trouble.

As Rondo was attempting to inbound the ball, the ref bounced the ball to Rondo, but he didn’t pick it up and took a lengthy while to pick it up. As a result, a delay of game was called on the play. When the ball was handed back to Rondo, he once again took forever to try and get it in, which led the ref to taking the ball away from him.

That resulted in a second delay of game, which is a technical foul.

It’s hard to assess what the problem is here on the play, but Rondo clearly didn’t pick up the ball on the first attempt and he took a while to pick it up on the second attempt. The second instance might be more forgivable because he couldn’t get the ball in, but the whole ordeal was really bizarre and Rondo was not happy with the ref’s decision.
