3. Atlanta Falcons

Cap space: $27.759 million

Why he fits: If there is an NFL team that needs Williams in a worse way, good luck finding it. The Falcons are desperate to get some kind of a pass-rush, especially with the likes of Jamie Winston, Cam Newton and Drew Brees in the division. Atlanta has no ability to get home with the current set of players. Last year, head coach Dan Quinn watched as the Falcons amassed only 19 sacks, with rookie Vic Beasley Jr. leading the team with four.

The Falcons went 8-8 last year after starting the season 5-0. If Atlanta is going to take the next step and finally reach the postseason again, it has to find a way to get more consistent pressure on the quarterback. The Falcons have not had a steady pass rush in years, with the last viable rusher being Kroy Biermann in his prime.

Why it doesn’t work: Atlanta decides to spend money on the secondary and offensive line. General manager Thomas Dimitroff has some money to spend and ha to be looking to make the playoffs, knowing that another failed campaign could be the end of the line for him. Dimitroff has shown willingness to spend big in free agency, so perhaps he goes elsewhere, but Williams would be a great gamble.
