Shaq Lawson. 9. player. 48.
Shaq Lawson can flat-out play.

The former Clemson standout produced 25.5 (!) tackles for loss during the 2015 college football season and, frankly, his production is not in dispute. At 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, Lawson isn’t the tallest player at the position, but he has nice bulk to stand up against the run and Lawson has flashed real upside as a pass-rusher through every step of the process.

There has been a huge movement for Noah Spence as a top-10 pick and many pundits would indicate that Spence has higher upside than Lawson. While that may be true, Lawson looks more like a fit in Tampa Bay’s scheme and he is certainly quite a bit “safer” given the absence of off-field issues.

The Bucs could also be in the market for a cornerback at this slot, but Vernon Hargreaves III is off the board in this particular mock and Jalen Ramsey is gone in every mock. There just isn’t a player out there who could be justified over the likes of Lawson or even Spence.

Tampa Bay needs a pass-rusher in the worst way and they pick one up here at a worthy cost with a player that can also interrupt the opposing offense in the running game.
. DE. Clemson
