Eastern Kentucky. Noah Spence. 10. player. 31.
The Giants need just about everything on the defensive side of the ball. As you might expect, that reality makes New York very difficult to gauge when trying to predict their direction with this pick.

Though it might be fair to suggest that the Giants could pull a fast one on the entire league by drafting offense (Ezekiel Elliott?), Noah Spence presents the highest upside of any defensive player available. To make matters more interesting, the Giants really need to replace the impact of Jason Pierre-Paul in the long term, and Spence looks like a fit to do just that.

The 6-foot-3, 254-pound Spence was a dominant force at the FCS level after washing out of Ohio State due to off-field concerns, but most indications were that he held his own in combine interviews, mitigating some of the risk in giving him first-round money. If not Spence, the Giants could look at upgrading at linebacker or even on the interior of the defensive line.

New York might be scared away from a player with this kind of checkered off-field history, but until we know that for sure, the Giants ending up with a high-end pass-rusher makes a great deal of sense.
. DE/OLB
