This mock isn’t going well for the Bears. Chicago would, at least presumably, love to add a high-end pass-rusher in the mold of Noah Spence and Myles Jack would present the high-upside linebacker that the Bears always seem to crave. However, the picks are the picks, and the Bears have to choose from the available pool of talent.

With that in mind, Reggie Ragland would be a heck of a consolation prize.

Most pundits would probably suggest that Ragland landing at number eleven would be a bit of a reach, simply because he isn’t the athletic freak that many teams seek. Still, the former Alabama standout profiles as a high-end starting middle linebacker for a long, long time, and Chicago might be replacing both of its starters at the position if free agency goes the wrong way.

The Bears need virtually everything on defense after a woeful 2015 performance, and it is tough to pin down their intentions as a result. With Ragland, though, Chicago gets “safety” in the form of a player that everyone agrees can do what he is asked to do in stopping the run, and the Bears just need quality talent across the board. Drafting for safety isn’t always a bad thing.
. LB. Alabama. Reggie Ragland. 11. player. 57
