player. 28.
Wouldn’t it be perfect if the vastly talented but troubled player landed with the Oakland Raiders?

The Reggie McKenzie era has been (a lot) more solid in the draft department for the Raiders, and that must be said, but Robert Nkemdiche would be a nice “Raider” to go along with a tremendous value. Throughout his final season at Ole Miss, the talented defensive lineman was seen as a sure-fire top five pick, but an off-field drug-related incident has forced his character into question, and Nkemdiche spent the majority of the combine talking about that brush with the law.

On the field, though, he is a terrifying presence at nearly 300 pounds with the upside of a terrorizing pass-rusher. The Raiders do have a bigger pure “need” in the form of a high-end cornerback, and as a result, Clemson’s Mackensie Alexander would be the runner-up choice in this scenario. Oakland isn’t in a position where they are close enough to draft purely for need, though, and it would be crazy to argue that Alexander possesses the impact ability that Nkemdiche does if all goes according to plan.

Drafting the best player available is, almost always, the right move, and no player remaining on the board brings the level of talent to the table that Robert Nkemdiche does if he has his head on straight.
. DT. Ole Miss. Robert Nkemdiche. 14
