Darron Lee. 17. player. 44.
Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn has been telling anyone who will listen that he wants as much speed as possible on the defensive side of the football. Let’s just say that Ohio State outside linebacker Darron Lee fits that bill quite nicely.

Lee isn’t a pass-rusher by trade, but rather a sideline-to-sideline menace that ran the fastest 40-yard dash (4.47 seconds) of any linebacker at this week’s combine. He is pretty raw when compared to some of the “finished product” linebackers in the 2016 NFL Draft class, but Lee’s upside is off the charts given his athletic profile, and the production that he displayed during his final season with the Buckeyes is encouraging to say the least.

The Falcons have a number of holes, making this less of a slam dunk choice. Atlanta could benefit from an improvement on its offensive and defensive lines, and there has been some chatter about adding a wide receiver to complement Julio Jones as Roddy White declines in the latter stages of his career. Still, Quinn and the front office seem focused on transforming this defense into something resembling what he coached in Seattle, and the addition of an athletic monster like Darron Lee would be a nice way to move toward that lofty goal.
.
