Georgia. Leonard Floyd. 20. player. 30.
There are more holes than you might think for the New York Jets, making this pick a very interesting one. The Jets have been linked to offensive studs like Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott or even Arkansas tight end Hunter Henry, but the defensive side of the ball is where this particular organization has buttered its bread in recent years, and Leonard Floyd would look very nice in green.

Floyd is the purest form of a pass-rusher in this draft, meaning that he isn’t particularly special in any other area. However, the former Georgia Bulldog ran a 4.60 40-yard dash at the combine, illustrating the top-end explosiveness that is plain to see with Floyd coming off the edge to terrorize opposing quarterbacks with regularity.

The Jets could also use a more “traditional” linebacker, but with the way this mock has gone to this point, that guy does not really exist in terms of value on the board. Floyd is a project at this point in time given his raw tools, but at worst, he looks like a fantastic addition on passing downs with the athletic talent to grow into much, much more down the line if given the right level of direction.

With Todd Bowles on board, he’ll know how to maximize that talent.
.
