13.
It just feels odd that the Chargers are picking this high considering they actually have a functional quarterback that wasn’t injured during the 2015 season. However, it is a nice spot to be in for San Diego, and given that all indications are that Eric Weddle won’t be on the team moving forward at safety, this is a pick that would provide positional fit and an impressive talent.

Ramsey may not be the best player available at this spot (hello, Joey Bosa), but he’s close and, for me, he’s the best defensive back in this draft pretty comfortably. At 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Ramsey would be a big corner and there is an argument that his value would be higher there, but the Chargers could really use the influx of ability at free safety, and Ramsey is plenty big enough to fit that mold as a potential All-Pro player at the position.

San Diego doesn’t need a quarterback right now, making the Chargers a prime target for teams looking to move up, especially because this is an organization with more than one hole to address. If they don’t like Ramsey, a pass-rusher makes some sense, but Bosa isn’t the best scheme fit given San Diego’s 3-4 approach, and it might be a slight reach to tab Oregon’s DeForest Buckner or any other front seven athlete at number three.
.
