I absolutely do not care how fast Laquon Treadwell can run the 40-yard dash.

There are warranted concerns about Treadwell’s top-end speed, but at 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, Treadwell is so good at everything else that it almost doesn’t matter. The former Ole Miss standout will never lead the NFL in yards per reception, but he is a complete player with very little in the way of weaknesses, and Treadwell has the makings to be a number one receiver at the NFL level sooner rather than later.

The 49ers have many needs, including a glaring one at linebacker next to NaVorro Bowman. However, San Francisco is a team with a history of taking the best player available, and for my money, Treadwell is that entity and he happens to come at a position where the organization could certainly use a top-end talent.

Many mock drafts have linked the Niners to a quarterback throughout this process, and Cal’s Jared Goff played his college football nearby. Throw in the fact that there are conflicting narratives on Colin Kaepernick’s future and it would make sense to tab a “quarterback of the future”. On a player vs. player basis, though, Treadwell is better than any signal-caller available. That always helps.
. WR. Ole Miss. Laquon Treadwell. 7. player. 42
