Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens have recently created quite a bit of cap space by extending quarterback Joe Flacco and cutting linebacker Daryl Smith. Might they be interested in committing some of that money to a worthy adversary over the years in Andre Johnson?

Johnson might be 34 years old but he can still be quite productive. Baltimore has had success with aging receivers before. Derrick Mason was productive long after people thought he would decline. Even Steve Smith Sr. has seen a bit of a career revival in Baltimore. Johnson is a reliable possession receiver who could give the Ravens another reliable receiver. Signing Johnson would allow the Ravens to use Smith as a slot receiver where he has proven to be quite deadly over the years.

The Baltimore Ravens simply can’t rely on Brandon Perriman right now because they don’t know what he is after he missed his entire rookie season due to an injury. Kamar Aiken is solid but doesn’t have the resume that Johnson has. Johnson wouldn’t be a sexy addition to Baltimore’s receiving core but he would be a very solid addition.

With not many receivers available in free agency, Johnson could be the best option available for the Ravens, especially since the Ravens don’t like spending big money in free agency.
