In all honesty, there is almost no way that Dwyane Wade will leave the Miami Heat in NBA Free Agency this summer. He’s spent his entire 13-year NBA career with the Heat, has made 12 All-Star teams, and won all three of Miami’s NBA Championships to date.

After Kobe Bryant retires at the end of this season, the next most likely player to spend his entire NBA career with one team obviously has to be Wade. Wade will turn 35 in the middle of the 2016-17 NBA season and still probably has about three more years of high-end productivity as a shooting guard.

Even though Wade has dealt with a myriad of injuries during his lengthy NBA career, when he’s healthy, his skill set on the court hasn’t diminished in any capacity since he became an All-Star back in 2004-05. Essentially, Wade has proven over the years that his game wasn’t strictly contingent on athleticism, but rather basketball acumen and dynamic perseverance.

Miami’s top executive Pat Riley is probably going to approach Wade about his final NBA contract so that he can retire with the Heat on his own terms. A three-year deal of close to a maximum contract sounds fair for the franchise’s most committed player.

It could look like the massive retirement contract Bryant got with the Lakers a few years ago, but will probably not have as dire of financial circumstances for the Heat. Miami should wisely re-sign Wade on a multi-year deal to ensure that he never plays for another NBA team in his Hall of Fame career.
