Here are five reasons the move to acquire running back DeMarco Murray won’t work for the Tennessee Titans
It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles were shopping running back DeMarco Murray this offseason. The prized free agent signing from 2015 simply didn’t work out as he posted career lows in rushing yards per game as well as per attempt en route to 702 yards and just six touchdowns.
What was surprising, though, was hearing that the Tennessee Titans were the team that actually stepped up and made a deal for the former league leader in rushing yards. With all the reports indicating that Murray was not coming back to Philly, it seemed like no one would take on even a portion of the outrageous salary that Murray was given just one season ago.
Instead, the Titans have taken on the running back, and while there may be some re-working of his overall contract, reports are saying the guaranteed money stays the same. That fact alone makes this move a head-scratcher as a younger back with less tread on the tires seems like it would have been the right move to make.
In the end, the Titans will probably regret this move as much as the Eagles did. Here is a look at five reasons Tennessee will be kicking themselves for kicking the tires on Murray.
