5 reasons DeMarco Murray trade to the Titans doesn’t work

3. He is all about the money, even though he says he isn’t about the money
DeMarco Murray played his hand a couple of times over the past two seasons. He showed in his own subtle ways that money is his one true motivating factor — not being great.
In Dallas Murray was seen as a talented, but often injured running back. His first three NFL seasons he failed to stay healthy and often struggled to fight through soft tissue injuries.
Then came his contract year, in which he all of a sudden became an iron man. Murray managed to fight through injuries that normally would sideline him, and he even managed to make it to a game just days after having surgery on a broken bone in his hand.
To further show he was all about the money, he continually refused every deal the Cowboys offered and asked his teammate, Tony Romo, to take a pay cut so Murray could have more money while staying where he ultimately preferred to be.
To top it all off, he took the largest amount of money possible, without even looking at the simple fact that he was a square peg heading into Chip Kelly’s proverbial round hole. The fit could be seen as poor from a mile away, but Murray opted for the bigger pay day and in the end it may have cost him.
